Playing Catch Up

I've taken a little break and it's already day # 14 of Katie's challenge.

A picture of something that makes me happy is the topic today.

That is an easy one.
My babies of course. Or big boys should I say.
That's what they think they are anyways.

They NEVER smile together for a picture. This is like one in a million these days.
They will always be MY babies. And they make me happy.

This picture makes me laugh out loud. Isaak thinks it's necessary to wear his glasses and his underwear backwards. Always. Strange child.

Tomorrow is Monday. We call it yucky day around here.
It's our least favorite day of the week. Looking forward to Tuesday!

The weekend is nearly over.

Are YOU afraid of the dark?

I'm not.
But that is what Katie wants to know today.
What am I afraid of?
I'm going to sound really crazy here.
I'm terrified of driving next to semi trucks.
I seriously think they are always coming over the line.
To knock me off the road.

[I was going to insert a picture of a big scary semi truck here, but Blogger is not allowing image uploads right now. Maybe that's a good thing.]

It drives my hunky hubby absolutely crazy.
I try to hide my fear.
But he always knows.
The "hughhhkkkk" whispered under my breath is a dead give away.
Oh and I grab the handle on my door. Every time.

If I'm driving, I just go really slow if a semi comes around.  Until it passes me.
Ok. Ok. I go slow all the time. But especially when those big trucks come up on me.
I wish they would just give me some space.
And stop trying to run me off the road already

See I told you that you would think I am crazy.
I probably am.

It's been a good day.

I Left My Heart In San Francisco

Day # 8 of Katie's 30 day challenge

A place I've visited

Earlier this year, the hunky husband and I visited San Francisco.
It was my first trip to California and I fell in LOVE.
What a beautiful part of the country.

Best food we ate while there was breakfast at Mama's on Washington Square.

Coolest tourist attraction was Alcatraz Island. We went at night time. Creeeeepy!

The most beautiful part of the trip was our tour through wine country.
Napa Valley and Sonoma.
So gorgeous and so relaxing.
I want to move there.

Of course Lombard Street was a favorite.

And the cable cars were pretty cool too.

Looking back at all the pictures makes me want to go back.
Maybe someday.

The day is nearly over.

Hair How To and Day # 7

People always ask me how I curl my hair.
It's really hard to explain.
Kendi made it easy and did a video showing you exactly how to do it.  She's a genius.
You will laugh when you see how easy it is.

Oh and Day # 7 of Katie's 30 Day Challenge is

Favorite Movies
The Wizard of Oz is my all time favorite movie.
My second favorite is Big
My third favorite is Juno.

The day is more than half over.
Enjoy it.

30 Day Blog Challenge: Day 5 & 6

Ok so I got a little bit behind playing along in Katie's challenge.
I just knew it would happen.
I was having too much fun roasting marshmallows and hot dogs.
While I have a few minutes here goes:

Day 4: My Siblings

I am the oldest. I used to think that was way cool.
Not so much anymore.
Introducing my three gorgeous sisters.

Ashley Pearl-She's the mommy to my two favorite nephews! I talk to her nearly every day.

Hannah Joy-She's a bit sassy and a bit sweet. Mostly sassy cause she's a teenager.

Moriah Dawn-She's the baby. Our princess is growing up.

Day 5: And here is something that makes me happy. I will be riding this tonight.

Friday Five

WOOO HOOOO it’s Friday!

Here are five things I plan to do this B-E-A-utiful fall weekend.

  1. Marshmallow roast tonight in the fire pit
  2. 'Grown Ups Only' trip to Worlds of Fun
  3. Keep the ‘Grown Ups Only’ trip to Worlds of Fun a secret from my 4 year old
  4. Laundry…. Laundry…. and………. more Laundry
  5. Make more of these for our upcoming Boo Bash party.

    Here's How:
Holding four black pipe cleaners, center them at the base of the pop and wrap them around the stick once so there are four legs on each side.
Bend the pipe cleaner ends to form eight feet.
    Glue on googly eyes.

Activity # 3 will be the most difficult of them all.

What are YOU doing this weekend?

    30 Day Challenge: My Parents

It's day # 4 of Katie's 30 day challenge and the topic is:

    ~My Parents~

Now Introducing.....dun dun dun.......my mom and dad!
My kids call them Grandma Cracker and Papa Greg.

    They are awesome.
They watch my kids every year so me and the hunky husband can get away for a few days.
It's delightful. And so are they.
I just wish they lived closer. Maybe one day.

    30 Day Challenge: Day #3

Linking up with Katie for Day #3 of her 30 day challenge.
    My first love huh?
Well as taboo as it sounds it was my hunky husband!
I know what you are thinking.
    Lamo Wamo!
But it's true. We met at a bowling alley (so charming I know) when I was 18 and I was smitten at first sight.

    The rest is history.

Now I've definitely had my share of crushes.
I remember my first one vividly.
Ezra Williams in the second grade.
I'd write him notes, but I was always too afraid to give them to him.
I never did tell him. I was too shy and a bit dorky.
    Oh well.

Now that I'm a mom, I'm scared for my boys to start liking girls.
I know that it will happen.
    Someday.
    A LONG time from now.
Maybe the Lord will return before then.
I would totally be ok with that.

30 Day Challenge: Meaning Behind My Blog Name

I'm linking up with Katie over at Katie's Journey for her 30 day blog challenge.
    How fun is that?
I'm sorry I missed day # 1 of the challenge, but I'm SO happy I found her in time to participate in day # 2.
    And hopefully more than that.
We'll see if I can keep up.

I chose my blog name because in the midst of this crazy life of
    working and
    mommyhood and
    wifehood and
    so on and
    so on.
Life does not always go as planned.

    Things break.
    Things spill.
    I show up late.
    Or not at all.
    Dirty dishes are piling up.
And the laundry needs to be folded.

It's so important in the business of life to just take a moment to slow down a bit and just be happy.
    Even in the crazy moments.
Even if I'm totally stressed out.
    Just Because.

Because life really is good. And I have so much to be thankful for.
Even if things don't always go my way and my to do list gets longer by the day.

    There is always tomorrow, right?
What do you have to be joyful about today?

    6:15am

    It's Saturday morning. And.
My whole house was up at 6:15am.
If anyone needs a better alarm clock, I have two of them.
They work really well and there is no snooze button.
And they are not half bad to look at either.

Oh never mind. I think I will keep them around.
I'm still working on that snooze button though.
    I hope I get a nap today.

So now it is 8:45am and we are getting ready to go outside and put this together.
    In our jammies.
[insert fist pump and a jiggy dance here]

    I'm a little excited.

My neighbors will think I am nuts.
    They probably already do.

Happy weekend to you and yours!

    Friday Five

My five favorite hair products and accessories~

    1. Pantene Color Protect Shampoo & Conditioner-Purchased from Target. I’ve tried all the fancy salon brands and I always go back to Pantene.

    1. Redken Outshine Smoothing Cream-Purchased from my local drugstore.         A tad pricey, but so worth the splurge! I use this on my towel dried hair before I blow dry. Perfect for keeping naturally wavy or curly hair from getting frizzy!

    1. Mini Bobby Pins-Purchased from my local drugstore. For that perfect Snooki bump.   Ok not quite that big, but still perfect!

    1. Black Flower head band-Mine is from Target. This one is from Etsy.                         Perfect for those not-so-perfect hair days. I wear mine all the time.

    5.  Nexus Finishing Spray-Purchased from my local drugstore. This is also a little pricier than most store brands but it holds my style all day and I am still able to comb through my  hair at night. Not sticky at all!

Now I need YOUR help. I’m still looking for a great product so that I can get my naturally curly hair wavy-without being crunchy OR frizzy!
My salon lady says it does not exist.
      I don’t believe her.
If you have any ideas, please share!

      Welcome Home

The flowers on my front porch were destroyed by the recent hail storm.
So I had to find something to put in my pretty black pot that welcomes everyone to my home.
As I was browsing BHG.com I was inspired by these.

Here is my version. A fake pumpkin and some fall inspired garland later. WaaaLaaa!

      BHG 'Welcome' pumpkin Wal-Mart $10
      BHG Fall Garland Wal-Mart $5

Nothing fancy, but oh so much more welcoming than a pot full of dead flowers.

      Happy Fall decorating to YOU!

Linking up with eighteen25.com for my first linky party!

      Friday Five

Five things I learned this week...

Don’t buy Crayola bath crayons ever again. They break into a million pieces and clog the bathtub drain. Seriously. Don't buy them

It’s ok to let my 2 year pick out his own jammies. Even if they don’t match.

Candy addictions are genetic. My bad.

      Storm damage makes me feel...

      Insurance money makes me feel...

Has life taught you anything this week?
