Wednesday

Holiday weekends are always a whirl wind.
We tend to pack so much into such a short amount of time.
This past weekend I braved a local water park with both boys by myself because Ryan had to work.
I'm sure the sight of the three of us in the lazy river was quite comical.
Of course both boys wanted their own tube and the second we hit the water they both fell right through them. They did have life jackets on, but they were flailing around like crazy people. Trying to hold on to them so they didn't float away and keeping the tubes nearby was not an easy feat. We won't be going into the lazy river without dad again.
There are no photos of this adventure because my phone surely would have ended up at the bottom of some pool.

We took Gentry to a Sporting KC soccer game with some friends.
We had tickets in two different sections so he sat with daddy and I sat with the friends. :)

Then we celebrated with ice cream. And the kids found a turtle to climb on.

We partied some more and {the boys} took nice looooong naps almost every day.

Ikey decided to have a party all by himself in the lawn chair.
His laugh is contagious.
Such a silly boy.

Kindergartener No More

It's the last day of Kindergarten and that is reason to CELEBRATE!
We've had an interesting year...a few more calls home from the teacher than what I would have liked, lots of laps for talking when he wasn't supposed to and a handful of trips to the principals office.
He likes to talk.
I hear he keeps up with the girls. Oh my!
He did come home with three awards yesterday. He was so excited about them.
I'm sure they all get them, but that's ok. It made his day to be recognized for his hard work.
The "Hustle Award" for P.E., reading above grade level and for counting to 100.
We have an entire weekend of nothing but fun on the agenda and I don't go back to work until Thursday.
Roller Coasters and Water Slides (and first grade-yikes!) here we come...

Flea Market Finds

There is simply nothing better than vintage glass containers, bitty kitchen shakers, yarn balls begging to be crafted and books that my boys asked me to read the second I shared with them the title. "Fattypuffs and Thinifers" HA!
(Not exactly politically correct, but apparently that didn't matter in 1930.)

Brothers

Most of the time they are practically killing each other.
So when I found this darling note on Ikey's dresser yesterday it melted my heart.
They really do love each other.

Un-Camping

This weekend we went camping with some new friends and had a fabulous time.
We sort of cheated and stayed in a cabin.
It had no bathroom inside, so we were still technically camping. Right?!
We've tent camped plenty with the boys, but we've realized how much easier it is to have a bed and air conditioning for those necessary mid-afternoon naps.
We ate....LOTS, and had a water balloon fight and swam and painted
and hung out with Yogi.
When I told Gentry that not all people like to camp, he replied with an incredulious,
    "What?"
He then asked if we could live there. :)

Leather Wallet DIY

The strap on my favorite leather bag broke off but I loved the leather so much I couldn't bring myself to toss it out.
Here is my first attempt at sewing with leather.
I need to perfect my zig zag stitch, (what does it mean when it skips a stitch?)
but I was still quite pleased with the outcome.
I can't wait to fill it with wallet junk.
